After its Dutch debut last week, Belgian parapharmacy chain Medi-Market is now launching in Spain. A first Spanish shop will open on Thursday in Madrid, four more should open before the end of this year.
Towards 200 shops
Medi-Market’s international ambitions are becoming increasingly concrete: the retailer opened its first Dutch shop in Maastricht on 21 May, and on 29 May a first Spanish shop will open in Centro Commercial Plenilunio, one of Madrid’s busiest shopping centres.
The group plans to open two more shops in the Netherlands and four in Spain before the end of 2025. By then, the total number should exceed 200. Medi-Market already operates more than 160 stores in Belgium, Italy and Luxembourg, and says it this two new markets should help it in its quest to become a leading European player.
“During our 2024 strategic plan, we clearly expressed our ambition to expand our presence in Europe. In less than a year, these promises have become reality. This is a great source of pride for our entire team”, CEO Cédric Antoine said.
